Calls to end plastic period products

Bringing an end to plastic in their period products was the aim of protestors in Brighton.

One of the people protesting was Ella Daish who started a petition ,which has been signed by over 100,000 people.

Ella’s petition calls on companies to use alternative materials and make the products bio-degradable.

1 packet of sanitary pads can include as much plastic as four plastic carrier bags.

The average woman will dispose of around 11,000 menstrual products in her lifetime.

With more awareness of the harm plastic can cause, many women are looking for alternative products.
